Submissions for the Horizons Regional "One Plan" (to rule them all?) are due by

Q. What Does the One Plan Include?
A. One Plan will be a combined Regional Policy Statement and Regional Plan dealing with matters Horizons is responsible for under the Resource Management Act (RMA) 1991. Its eight themes are:

  • Issues of Significance to Iwi
  • Land
  • Water
  • Living Heritage (includes biological diversity, landscapes and natural features).
  • Air
  • Coastal Environment
  • Waste and Contaminated Sites
  • Natural Hazards

In keeping with the RMA's general principles, One Plan's policies and regulations will seek to protect landscape, ecosystems and heritage, while encouraging regional development in an environmentally responsible manner.

Q. How can I get a copy of the proposed One Plan?
A.
CD version - To help minimise waste and expense we have produced a CD-ROM which contains the One Plan, supporting documents and an electronic copy of the submission form. All copies of the CD-ROM are free and they can be obtained by visiting our offices in Palmerston North or Wanganui, or we can send you a copy.
On the web - the Proposed One Plan is available to download from our website.
Printed version - The One Plan is a large document with several coloured maps and some supporting documents. Printed copies can be viewed at our offices in Palmerston North and Wanganui and also at Libraries throughout the Region.
